We don't discuss political issues at these meetings but focus on the work of getting out to voters and growing the party. If you have question about this event please contact Arthur. Citizens to be Heard – Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013

To help facilitate the Citizens to be Heard Session, the Office of the City Clerk reminds community members who wish to speak, to please observe the following guidelines:

·         Pursuant to City Code, Part II, Division 2, Sec. 2-35 (Rules Addressing the City Council), persons may address the City Council on any topic related to city business.  Any person wishing to do so must sign the register provided by the City Clerk no later than 6 p.m. for Wednesday sessions.

·         Citizens can sign-up online from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, or if necessary, citizens can physically sign-up beginning at 4 p.m. at the City Council Chambers.  Sign-up will be closed at 6 p.m. It is important to sign up by 6 p.m. to ensure your name is added to the sign-up list. Online sign-up will ensure a citizen’s name is added to the sign-up list; therefore, online sign-up is encouraged to ensure citizens meet the deadline.

·         Citizens can enter Council Chambers from the entrance on Main Plaza. Seating is not guaranteed due to the large crowd being anticipated. Therefore, arrive early to the Council Chambers. If a speaker yields their time to someone else, that person needs to be present to confirm they are yielding their opportunity to speak.

·         Electronic sign-up is available at https://www.sanantonio.gov/ctbh/. The link to sign-up will appear on this site beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday only.

·         All persons attending the B-Session/Citizens to be Heard Session will be required to go through the security station. To avoid delays, please ensure you do not have any metal objects, such as pocketknives, fingernail clippers, lighters, etc.  Anyone with these items will be asked to return them to their vehicles, or dispose of them in the trash bin.  Additionally, no food or drinks are allowed in the Council Chambers.  Citizens with water bottles, coffee mugs, or any other similar items will be asked to dispose of them.

·         Signs on a pole or on a stick are not allowed in Council Chambers. Small hand-held signs will not be allowed if the person is sitting, as it will obstruct the view of persons sitting behind them.

·         The Mayor or Presiding Officer may, at any time at their discretion, reduce the time a person has to address the City Council.

On June 29, the LP of Texas sponsored a public debate entitled, "The Ultimate Debate: Low Tax versus No Tax."



Dr. Steven Bradley (Baylor U) and Kurt Hildebrand (Hays Co. LP) represented low taxes; 

Wes Benedict (former TCLP chair) and Nathan Kleffman (Travis Co. LP) argued for no taxes.

Independence Day Social

We are having an Independence Day Celebration on Sunday July 7 from 6 PM until whenever....Jenn's famous spinach dip will be the star of the table. Hamburger, hot dogs, chips, beer, soft drinks and plenty of good company are also on the menu.

Monthly Discussion Meeting

The topic for our June meeting will be classroom techniques that teach children self management.

We meet every 3rd Tuesday every month. Our meetings are open to the the public.

The topic for our May meeting is changing to allow a presentation by a guest speaker who is in San Antonio that day. Ms. Rebecca Painter of the State Policy Network will tell us about the important work of her organization offering liberty based alternatives to 'big government.'

If you would like to get involved by helping candidates or simply want to know more about "what is a Libertarian?" please join us.

Election Night Party

We will be holding an election night party (Sat, May 11) to watch the results and enjoy good company. All are welcome to join and we hope those that volunteered will come as well. There will be pizza there, but its semi pot-luck. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks to share.

It will be at the Villela's home: 6022 Mountain Meadow, San Antonio, Texas 78222. It will start at 8pm. Please RSVP if you want to join because we need to know if we need to get more chairs! RSVP to arthur.thomas@amtiv.com. Thank everyone for your hard work and your votes! Lets celebrate!

Patrick Dixon, the LP Texas state chair will be attending this meeting. If you have questions for him this is a great opportunity.

Arthur Thomas who is running for city council district 10. There is a chance media will show up to do an interview.

This will be our regular general discussion meeting. Feel free to invite friends and introduce them to the Libertarian Party. We will be discussing future plans and goals. There is no scheduled speaker for this meeting but we want to plan our more events and gather volunteers. Please come with ideas as well if you know of any good opportunities.

Arthur Thomas and Hector Medina will be there. They are running for city council district 10 and 2.
