This regular meeting is being converted to a business meeting so that updates can be made to the recently adopted ByLaws. We ask that all affiliates attend so that they can vote on the changes.
Every month we will be talking about news and events related to the Libertarian Party of Bexar county and our candidates for office (from the National to the County level). If you would like to get involved by helping candidates or simply want to know more about "what is a Libertarian?" please join us.

Election season with filing deadlines are approaching and our October meeting is devoted to helping potential candidates prepare their campaigns. Everyone who wants to be involved during the 2012 election cycle is encouraged to attend and give your input.
Next Tuesday is our regular business meeting. These are more structured than the regular meetings. Please attend even though they are not complete open discussion periods. If you do have questions someone will gladly step aside with you and talk with you.
Libertarian members and guests were treated to two interesting speakers at their regular "Third" Tuesday meeting at the Lion and Rose.
Treasurer Bill Grisham presented what one could characterize as a college course outline on libertarian political, economic and philosophical principles. He briefly covered each area and gave pertinent quotes from historical and present day thinkers and authors. Each area could have been a good springboard for extensive discussion. Those who were unable to attend missed a thought provoking and well summarized talk.
The busy night's agenda also included guest presenter and Tea Party Member, Sharon Hall. She spoke on the necessity of more involvement in the election day process. Mrs Hall emphasized the necessity of poll watchers and judges for polling places. These poll watchers and judges perform a vital function. Their efforts lend oversight and encourage honesty on Election Day. More poll watchers and judges are always needed. Though a small stipend is paid, basically it is a volunteer position. Anyone can take the training and then assist on election day with the various questions and problems that might arise. Training classes are available.
After the formal meeting visitors were welcomed and introduced themselves to those gathered. Certainly everyone enjoyed the after meeting conversations and the good food and drink.
Our treasurer, Bill Grisham will be leading a discussion on political etiquette. Please come if you have questions about Libertarian ideas or out us in general. All are welcome.
For those who were unable to attend last weeks regular meeting of the Bexar/San Antonio Libertarian Political Party, you missed a most interesting discussion.
Our guest speaker, Nancy Torres, gave an accounting of her experiences as an Registered Nurse in the hospitals and prisons of this area. Her first hand experiences as a psychological nurse was a fascinating narrative of the corruption that power encourages. She recounted instances of mis management, fraud and even abuse of police power. Her observation was that drug use and addiction were health problems not being solved under the present "War on Drugs." Her presentation certainly stimulated interesting conservations afterwards. If you missed the get together, now being held at the Lion and Rose, mark your calendar for the third Tuesday of the month and join us next time.
